Nrityarpan
Our senior students Arushi, Dhanvi, and Rusha have been learning dance at Mayur for many years. Over the past year, they undertook intensive training with our director Sukanya Mukherji to prepare for a feature-length repertoire performance called Nrityarpan – an offering of dance. As this milestone approaches, they’ve shared some reflections on their preparations.

Dhanvi: “The process of preparing for our Nrityarpan was rigorous, educational and exciting. One dance that stood out to me was the abhinaya (expressive) piece. It was a style I didn’t have much experience with in the past, and I enjoyed the challenge of learning to connect with my piece. Overall the experience has been so much fun and I am thankful for the opportunity to perform this May!”
Rusha: “Preparing for my Nrityarpan has been an eye-opening experience, as I’ve learned how to truly feel the stage and melodies. Dancing with Arushi and Dhanvi has shown me the diversity of dance, as the three of us have different interpretations of the same movements. I’ve also realized that there’s never an end to learning, as the journey to perfection is endless”.
Arushi: “I am very thankful for the opportunity of performing my Nrityarpan. Dance has become my creative outlet, and this performance challenged me to become a better dancer and expanded my potential.”
